The story
Born in Utrecht. Hero at the Galgenwaard.
On 5 January 2017 Labyad signed for FC Utrecht, the club of his home city. The coach was Erik ten Hag, and the partnership clicked straight away.
On 17 August 2017 Utrecht faced Zenit Saint Petersburg in the Europa League play-offs. In the 76th minute Labyad headed in a loose ball: 1–0, in front of almost twenty thousand spectators at the Galgenwaard. For years it remained the club’s last European victory.
On 5 November 2017 he was the star of the show at the Johan Cruijff ArenA. Utrecht won 1–2 away at Ajax and Labyad scored both goals. Voetbal International named him player of the week. In December he was the team’s top scorer.
After Ajax he came home once more in February 2023. "It gives me a warm feeling to be back," he said. In total he played 76 matches for FC Utrecht and scored 21 times.
